Many people feel that they are stuck in their faith, asking themselves if God even hears their prayers. Some might wonder why struggles keep coming back despite their daily prayers.

Let’s show you how to overcome spiritual doubts in your faith journey by leaning on God’s grace.

The truth is simple but strong: nothing is too hard for the Lord.

Ashley D. Wille, in her book My Journey Through the Cross, writes about her own deep pain and confusion when she felt distant from God even while trying hard to please Him.

Yet she found that God never left her side.

You, too, can find that same peace today.

Do Not Fear What You Cannot Do

“Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.Jeremiah 32:17

Jeremiah spoke these words during a time of great trouble. The enemy was at the gate, and hope was fading quickly.

Yet the prophet remembered who God really is, and never once did he look at his own weakness. Instead, he looked at God’s strength, which was greater than the strength he could ever think of his own.

This is the first step to overcoming doubt when you stop staring at your limits and start trusting divine power.

Ashley Wille learned this lesson through a painful marriage. For years, she wanted connection and affection from her husband, but the door stayed closed for many years.

“The Lord kept wooing [her] to Himself. He beckoned [her] to come forth and press into the cross.” She did not fix her situation by herself. Only until she cried out to God did He answer.

Your doubts do not surprise Him, for He already knows every fear you carry. Thus, give those fears to Him right now.

Grace Is Bigger Than Your Struggles

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.2 Corinthians 12:9

Paul the apostle knew what it felt like to beg God for relief. He had a thorn in his flesh that would not go away. So, three times he asked it to leave, but God said no each time, but not because He was angry.

God said no because His grace was enough. This is hard for our human minds to accept. We want problems removed, but God often wants to grow us through them.

Strength through spiritual guidance does not mean that the road has become easy. This only means that you have a Guide who never gets lost.

Ashley Wille felt stuck under what she called a “religious glass ceiling,” and no matter what she did, she could not get closer to God.

Then she realized she was trying too hard on her own: “[She] determined in [her] heart to find Him—not as portrayed by man, but as He is, face to face.”

That decision changed everything, and you can make that same choice today. Thus, stop performing and start receiving.

Let Go of Guilt and Receive Rest

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,Romans 8:1

Guilt is one of the biggest reasons people start doubting God’s love. You mess up, and then you think God is angry. Then, you feel shame, so you pull away.

But the Bible shines a light upon this common opinion: There is no condemnation for you if you belong to Christ, not because you are perfect.

But because Jesus took your punishment completely already.

Ashley Wille struggled with guilt for years, and she tried to obey the Ten Commandments perfectly, failing every time.

It was only until much later that she saw the truth: “Christ is the end of the law. He is all we need.”

She learned that God does not want her to keep scrubbing her own sin, for He wants her to rest in what He already did. This is how to overcome spiritual doubts in your faith journey at the deepest level when you stop working for love and start living from love.

Miracles within reach begin when you let go of guilt and grab hold of grace.

Believe Even When You Cannot See

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”Mark 9:23

A father brought his sick son to Jesus. The boy had been suffering for years, and the father said, “If You can do anything, have compassion on us.” Jesus turned the words back on him. “If you can believe.” The man cried out, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

That is one of the most honest prayers in the Bible, which says you can have faith and doubt at the same time. God honors that cry when it is made.

Nothing is too hard for God, but that does not mean you will understand everything. Some things simply stay mysterious, and some prayers will go unanswered for a long time.

Ashley Wille waited years for a change in her marriage, feeling like she was crawling toward the cross on her hands and knees. Yet she kept going for “[deep down she knew she] was meant for this pain. So [she] numbly proceeded.”

She did not feel strong, but she just kept trusting–and that is the secret: faith is not a feeling but a choice to keep moving toward God even when the path is dark.
