Most of us take our faith for granted, despite knowing its role to further God’s great glory. We take it for granted and stray. Most of us forget the beauty of resting in faith, and it is not surprising considering how Churches misrepresent the true Gospel of grace. We forget through faith, we aim to do everything for God’s great glory to achieve his planfor our lives which can give us a source of everlasting joy, happiness, and a greater life purpose through all of the challenges we may face.

What is Faith?

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1

Generally speaking, faith means that you believe in something greater than yourself. Even though some claim that there is no definite proof that God exists, there is plenty of evidence to suppport His existence: the glory of creation, over five hundred historically documented witnesses of His resurrection, the millions of poeple who have died for Him, the millions who have witnessed His miracles, and so on.

Faith means that you hold that idea or belief in trust and confidence knowing that there is more to life than what we physically see with our eyes. Hence, the term “resting in faith” because of the faith, trust, and belief in something greater than yourself.

In terms of religion, faith means that we believe in God and his teachings and doctrines while seeing evidence of God all around us, and hearing his commands for our lives in His Holy Word. As Christians, our faith is rooted in the Bible and its doctrines. Although we do not physically see God, we know that He isthere, and we can invite Him to speak to us as we open our hearts to welcome a loving relationship with Him. another way that we can know that He is there is by by observing the lives of the people around us and how people are positively touched by his works and miracles. Moreover, we realize that by reading his doctrines and following the Apostles like in the Bible, we can choose to live out His commandments to help further God’s plan and become the beacon of His goodness to others.

The Importance of Faith and Why We Continue Resting In Faith?

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” – Romans 10:17

Many people believe that Christians resting in faith is sillu because they think that we are blindly just following the things the Bible says. However, they don’y understand that the Word o f God is a supernatural portal to conect intimately with our Creator, the supernatural Almighty God. As we grow in our faith, our faith becomes the foundation of who we are and the people we can become –  children of God. We should keep our faith close at heart because it is closely knit to our purpose here on earth: to serve God’s mission and help others in need byusing the gifts that He has freely given to us. Below, I will give a more detailed explanation of why we need to keep our faith:

It gives us a purpose in life.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” -2 Corinthians 5:7

Most of us have become so absorbed with the fast-paced, materialistic world around us that sometimes people are building their lives on the sand by building their existence on worldly things. For example, continue doing the bare minimum in their jobs to buy a new phone. However, our faith gives us meaning, and we understand that even the most mundane tasks can change the lives of others. We can grow to become more like Jesus and inspire others to lead better lives.

For example, the simple job of becoming a waitress can give us more meaning when we have faith because we understand that through our job, we can reflect God’s values and virtues and trust that God will use us to positively influence other people.

Faith inspires compassion and kindness.

“But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.” – 1 Timothy 6:11

When we think about emulating Christ’s values and following His Will, we often are moved to be kind toi others. We can rest in our faith in what Christ has done for us through His death, burial, and resurrection, while showing compassion to others as we share our blessings and donate goods to t he less fortunate.

However, compassion and kindness are not just grounded in material things. When we have compassion and kindness for others, we can develop empathy and can begin people’s situations by putting ourselves in their shoes. Beyond sharing our material blessings,  we can seek God and his transforming power so that we can liove out His good works by understanding other people’s emotions or circumstances that might cause them to go down a path not in line with what Jesus taught us.

We should go the extra mile to help others see God working in tehir livesdespite their difficulties. Lending a hand to them or being a shoulder for them to cry on would be examples of how we can emanate compassion and kindness to others without relying on material things.

It is a source of strength.

“For nothing will be impossible with God.” – Luke 1:37

There will always come a point in our lives when we face hardships. When we question the importance of faith, we can rely on the Lord to be our source of strength. Becoming rooted in Christ, allowing ourselves to continue resting in faith, and knowing His will, His love, and His guidance will give us the personal courage to face our fears and overcome head-on and overcome our challenges by faith knowing He will carry us through them.

As we strive to pursue our dreams and uphold his values, we are given a source of strength and grounding: no matter what happens in the future, we are grounded by his love and compassion. He has a greater plan for us, and we can play a role in His plan to spread goodness to all humanity.
