The story you are about to read is a true account of God’s amazing power. It shows how miracles do happen when we stop trying to save ourselves and surrender to Him. This is a journey that proves the great truth of healing trauma through faith in God, where the deepest wounds are made new.
The Search for a Missing Piece
If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.—Jeremiah 29:13
From a very young age, Ashley D. Wille felt like a puzzle with a big piece missing. Even though her family had comfort and nice things, she felt lost. Everything seemed fake and not real.

As she grew up, she went after wealth, beauty, travel, and whatever. But all these things were like smoke and mirrors. They looked real but offered nothing. They led her through mazes of emptiness.
This long search was exhausting, but it taught her a deep lesson: happiness and security cannot be found in the world.
They must be found somewhere else.
The existence of God became a foundational truth for her, revealing His constant presence and power in her life. We must remember that miracles do happen when we look for them in the right place.
Finding God’s Comfort and Light
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.—Psalm 34:18
Wille finally reached a low point. She was completely broken and knew she could not go on another day without finding the real answers to life.
Alone in her room, full of despair, she cried out to God. She knew He was still there, and she knew she had to reach Him, no matter what it cost.
What happened next was an extraordinary event. God answered her call. She felt His presence in a powerful, undeniable way. This was a true act of divine intervention. It was not a physical touch, but an encounter with holiness that changed everything.
However, finding this wonderful treasure only made her hungrier for more. She had walked through the door, but she wanted to explore the whole house of God’s life. This hunger led her on a long, hard journey. Wille had to learn that the God who comforts us is not like the imperfect people we knew growing up. She had to let go of the false ideas she had about Him—that He was distant or hard to please–and realize that breaking through false layers of thinking was essential to deepening her relationship with God. Wille fought against receiving His grace, afraid of His control, or trying to earn His love through her own actions and perfectionism.
She lived with guilt and self-blame because she kept missing the mark of holiness.
But God was waiting patiently, ready to show her something greater than her own striving.
Why Miracles Do Happen
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!—2 Corinthians 5:17
The greatest healing Wille experienced was in her own soul, moving from a life of intense self-effort and needing perfect order to a life of rest in God. She was a “classic firstborn,” meaning she was a perfectionist who wanted total organization and peace. Disorder or mess would make her feel “nearly incapacitated”. She found her security in keeping things orderly and just so. In this transformation, she learned to let go of old patterns and pain, like leaves falling away, making room for new growth.
But then life happened. She got married and had children, which brought mess and noise and beautiful chaos. Her old way of finding security was completely destroyed by the unpredictable world. Her heart was deeply connected to her orderly circumstances. If things were not perfect, she would be stressed.
But God worked slowly through her pain and suffering to change her heart. He slowly moved her security from neat and tidy circumstances to security in Him alone. This was a supernatural occurrence, not something she could do by herself. In the post-trauma period, she experienced spiritual renewal and growth, discovering a new sense of peace and trust in God.
Today, after all this change, she can say a truly amazing thing: she is “completely okay amidst both tidy and messy surroundings”. If you had known her before this change, you would believe what she says next: “If you knew me before this transformation took place, you would attest to this as being a miracle of God”.
The Furnace of Affliction
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.—Romans 5:3
The path to this deep healing was not easy. Wille had to go through a long, painful period. She felt deep emotional pain that was “locked tight inside a red-hot furnace of affliction”. This time of deep suffering was hard and dark.
But this furnace had a divine purpose. In this place of pain, God was able to heal the wounds that had been buried in her soul for so long, wounds that had controlled her behavior. She was able to surrender and allow God to heal the deep pain she used to carry around

Because of the work Christ has done, Wille can now live in the moment, every moment, trusting that He is present and active, redeeming the past and preparing the future. As part of this ongoing recovery, it can be helpful to read spiritual or motivational content, such as Bible passages or uplifting books, to encourage growth and renewal. The true message is that miracles do happen for those who fully give themselves to God. This surrender is the ultimate act of faith, leading to a secure life that is completely dependent on Him. When we know Him and rely on His all-powerful love, we can rest and let Him lead. His supernatural faith carries us over and through the most dangerous places. This is how we truly witness the healing power of God.
Ashley D. Wille’s My Journey Through the Cross details the steps of faith that took her beyond religious barriers, through years of frustration, and into a supernatural rest.
